The Sons of Norway District IV Convention met in Fargo on June 16-18. Highlights included a Memorial Service with Rev. Marty Tollefson lifting up the theme of “Memory and Hope.” District
President, Nordy Riley, hosted a reception and dinner with Erv Inniger as MC. Official ceremonies welcomed dignitaries and a keynote presentation by Greg Tehven on our Prillar-Guri theme, “Call to Action.”
The business section, which included virtual delegates, approved a recommendation that the Canadian Lodges transfer their membership to District VII, which is an all-Canadian District. Election
results brought Bismarck’s Jerry Saude forward as the new District IV President. The Grand Banquet was led by Master of Ceremonies, Chris Carlson. Following awards to several lodges for exemplary programming, Dr. Marla Fogderud shared the riches of Norwegian composers through classical vocal solos.
The convention concluded Saturday morning with a full slate of workshops at Kringen Lodge and a lunch-hour presentation by National Geographic author and painter, Sven Lindauer, on the
artistic and cultural heritage of the Viking Age. A sincere “thank you” goes to all Kringen Lodge members who in one way or another, volunteered their services!
Our next Lodge program is set for July 19, following the Tuesday evening dinner. Dan Hannaher, Regional Director for Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services, will address the worldwide movement of people caused by political turmoil.
